Here's what we'll be working on this week:
Language Arts:
Story: Herbie and Annabelle
Phonics: Long a, long o
Strategy: Drawing conclusions about characters and plot
Skill: Cause and effect
Grammar: Complete and varied sentences/nouns and verbs (continued/ongoing)
Writing: Descriptive writing (continued)
Math:
We are finished with our rounding unit, and will be moving on to addition and subtraction fact families and word problems (SOLs 3.2, 3,4). Students will also be learning how to use mental math when adding one and two-digit numbers by making groups of 10.
Science: (with Mrs. King)
Students will wrap up their adaptations unit and move on to food chains. The adaptations test will be on Friday. Be sure students review their IN notes nightly!
Social Studies:
We will begin our maps unit (SOL 3.5). Students will have to know the name, location, and physical shape of all seven continents. They will also be able to identify the five oceans and use the equator and prime meridian to identify all four hemispheres. Stay tuned to the agenda for all students need to know. There will be a quiz on continents and oceans on Thursday.
Important dates/reminders:
- Interim reports will be issued on Wednesday.
- Fall Fundraiser begins this week!
- Remember that Fridays are spirit days at CAES, so students can wear our school colors - red/black/white
- Field trip permission and money are due by next Tuesday, 10/7.
- Field trip to Mariners' Museum is next Friday, 10/10.
