Well, we should be able to get a full week in THIS week! =) Although, remember that we do have a 1:00 dismissal on Wednesday.
We'll be PALS (Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening) testing this week and next. This is nothing that the children can study/prepare for, this is just a measure to assess their instructional reading level. We can discuss these results at a conference in October if you wish, or if I see a need, I will contact you. =)

We will continue working with place value (SOL 3.1a). Students are learning how to identify, read, and write numbers in standard, expanded, and written forms up to the hundred thousands place (6-digit numbers). Students should also be able to identify the place and value of each digit in a given number. The place value assessment will be on Wednesday, then we'll move into rounding (3.1b) on Thursday. We'll be able to round whole numbers, 9,999 or less, to the nearest ten, hundred, and thousand.
Science: (with Mrs. King)
Students will meet with Mrs. King for Science on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mondays and Wednesdays they will stay with me for Social Studies. In Science, they will explore the unit on animal adaptations (SOL 3.4). There will be an adaptations quiz on Thursday. Check out Mrs. King's blog for more information:
Social Studies:
We'll continue to take a look at the difference between rules and laws and be able to explain the purpose of government, rules, and laws. (SOL 3.10) Students will also learn about America's basic principles (SOL 3.11a).
