Math Jam

Each day after we go over Math Boards and have our whole-group lesson, we break into groups. Students rotate through four stations, and we call this our "Math Jam":

  • Activity/Game
  • Problem of the Day
  • Fast Facts (practicing all math facts)
  • Independent Practice

Below are some snapshots of today's Math Jam...
These students are working at the "Fast Facts" station - they practice their multiplication and division facts. We really need to be sure we know our multiplication facts well so that it's easier to compare fractions!

We also work on ipads with IXL.com

This student finished her work, so she is using comparing fractions cards (from the math grant!).

Students do a math game/activity every day - today they did a comparing fractions task card activity in pairs. (2 pictures below, also)

More Fast Facts! (and picture below)

We also do a daily Problem of the Day  - this student is thinking hard!

This is the anchor chart that we created today. Students create these in their math notebooks and find them helpful when doing homework and studying.
