Week of 11/23

I am excited for this week of learning as we'll be doing some Thanksgiving-themed activities and books, while reviewing many of the language arts concepts that we've covered so far this year. I hope everyone enjoyed the turkeys that came home that the kids made for the Thanksgiving lunch in the cafeteria last week. The tables were decorated so nicely!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends!

Important Notes: Remember that Wednesday is a 1:00 dismissal day, so we'll eat lunch from 10:50 - 11:20.

Did you get your fundraising items that were available on Friday? If not, you can still stop by school and get them this week.

School pictures come home this week - if your child had retakes done, those come home at a later date.

Math:
We're going to continue on with multiplication (SOLs 3.5, 3.6). Please have your child continue to practice their facts daily. Many math skills will be much easier if math facts are mastered! =) Keep practicing/reviewing all skills we've covered on IXL - this is a great way to keep skills fresh all year long!

Science: (with Mrs. King)
Students are working on their habitat projects in class with Mrs. King. These projects do not need to be worked on at home, so a due date is not necessary -it just depends on how much students get done during class time. Mrs. King has pictures posted on her blog of students working on their projects:

Social Studies:

We are reviewing second grade SOLS of Pocahontas, Chief Powhatan, and First Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, we will review the indian tribes (also a second grade SOL 2.2, 2.4 c, d): Powhatan, Lakota, and Sioux. We are reviewing second grade SOLs because it is on our third grade pacing guide due to those SOLs being on the SOL test in May. =)
