Report cards will be issued Thursday - please sign and return the envelope. The report card can stay at home. If you have any questions about your child's report card, I'd be happy to schedule a conference with you.
Here's a glimpse of what we'll be working on this week:
Language Arts:
*Students are taking the Reading CPA (benchmark test) on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Story: Danger - Icebergs!
Phonics: vowels aw/au
Strategy: Authors Purpose
Skills: Fact/opinion, singular possessives, commas in a series
Grammar: Complete and varied sentences/nouns and verbs, (continued/ongoing)
Writing: How to rake leaves
Math:
We will be continuing our study of multiplication (SOLs 3.5 and 3.6). We've learned strategies for multiplying - repeated addition, arrays, number lines, and set models. This week we'll talk about the identity, commutative, and zero properties of multiplication and go through the 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s tables. Keep practicing facts at home and using IXL for review online! =)

Student are studying the water cycle with Mrs. King this week (SOL 3.9).
Social Studies:
We learned about Veterans Day (SOL 3.11c) and Wednesday we will begin our review of American Indians (2nd grade review). We will learn about the Powhatan, Lakota, and Sioux tribes.

- Remember that Fridays are spirit days at CAES, so students can wear our school colors - red/black/white.
