Week of 3/14

IMPORTANT DATES/REMINDERS: 
  • Remember to order a yearbook if you'd like one - orders are due by Thursday! 
  • Book Fair runs until Friday. Students can go to Book Fair after morning jobs are complete or after they finish their lunch. 
  • Monday is Spirit Night at Smithfield McDonald's from 5-7pm - support CAES if you can!
  • Wednesday is a 1:00 dismissal day; lunch for our class that day is 10:50-11:20. 
Here's what we'll be working on this week:
Language Arts:
Reading Strategy/skills: Questioning, Predicting, context clues.

Writing: compare/contrast, personal narrative, editing/revising (ongoing).

Math:
We'll begin our graphing unit (SOL 3.17). Students will read, interpret, construct, and analyze information from line plots, picture graphs, and bar graphs. There will be a quiz on Friday. 

Science: (with Mrs. King)
Mrs. King will continue her matter unit (SOL 3.3) this week. There will be a quiz on Friday.

Social Studies:
We finished the basics of Ancient Greece, but we'll continue to review and discuss it as we begin exploring Ancient Rome this week. Students will be able to explain how the contributions of Ancient Rome have influenced us in terms of architecture, government, and the arts. Students should be able to compare/contrast these two ancient civilizations.
