Week of 9/14

What a week we had last week! We learned many classroom routines and got through most of our diagnostic tests so that I can get to know and meet the needs of your child.

This coming week will be filled with our third grade learning objectives, which you'll find below:

Language Arts:
Reading Strategy: Drawing conclusions
Skills Sequencing, guide words, homophones
Grammar: Nouns/verbs

Writing: Prewriting, descriptive writing

Math:
We will be reviewing and "digging deeper" into place value (SOL 3.1a). Children will be able to read and write six digit numerals and be able to identify the place and value of each digit. Your child's math notebook will be interactive (math IN = interactive notebook), so many notes that we go over in class can be found in this notebook. Please make sure that your child reviews this notebook when doing homework. There will be a place value quiz on Friday!

Science: (with Mrs. King)
Stay tuned to the agenda for what's coming up in Science this week! Students met Mrs. King on Friday for a brief introduction and they'll be learning physical adaptations in animals and plants this week (SOL 3.4)

Social Studies:
We will begin our unit on rules and laws (SOL 3.10) this week. Students will be learning about the importance of government/rules/laws in our community, state, and country. All notes will be in students' Social Studies IN (interactive notebook). Stay tuned to the agenda for an upcoming quiz.
