Week of 10/27

Yet another gorgeous weekend - hope it was enjoyed by all.

Here we are in the final stretch of the first quarter! We will be reviewing in all subjects with some end of quarter tests in reading and social studies. Students can review by rereading/reviewing IN notes. The checkpoint assessments (CPAs - previously called benchmark tests) will be Nov. 4th and 5th for math, and Nov. 11th and 12th for reading.

Due to the testing, we will not have our weekly reading story or spelling words/test.

We'll end the week on a happy note with Pumpkin Day. So far, we have gotten one pumpkin donated. We need about seven small pumpkins still. Please email me if you can donate one. Remember, students may NOT dress up on Friday. Sorry! Book Character Day is now in March during Read Across America Week. It would be fun for students to wear orange on Friday for Pumpkin Day! =)

Here's a glimpse of what we'll be working on this week:

Language Arts:
Review of all skills learned this quarter in preparation for CPA and end of quarter testing.
NO SPELLING OR STORY THIS WEEK DUE TO TESTING.

Math:
We'll have a money test on Wednesday. Students will need to count a collection of bills and coins, compare money, add and subtract money, and make change. We will also be reviewing this week in preparation for the CPA next week.

Science: (with Mrs. King)
Students will continue to work on their awesome habitat projects in class! They're looking great!

Social Studies:
We will be having cumulative tests this week on mapping and government. Reread/review all IN notes.
