Week of 5/30

Here's hoping everyone enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend! It's really starting to feel like summer... please remind the eager ones that we are still in school with work still to be done! =) We're almost there!

IMPORTANT DATES/REMINDERS:
  • 6/3: All library books due
  • 6/7: Ancient Civilizations Day (students rotate to each third grade teacher, who will be doing an activity that incorporates one of the civilizations that we've studied.)
  • 6/10: Field Day
  • 6/16 and 6/17: 2:20 Dismissal
  • 6/17: Last day of school and 3rd Grade Promotion Ceremony at 11:30 am. Cake will be served afterwards and students may be released to parents at conclusion of the event.

Here are the skills that we'll be working on this week:

Language Arts:
Reading Strategy/skills: All strategies/skills, using trade books to review.

Writing: Friendly letter and CURSIVE! =)

Math:
We'll continue to work in the remaining THUNKS pages, so please have those handy. We'll be reviewing all skills during these last few weeks and doing some STEM projects that incorporate math skills.

Science: (with Mrs. King)
Mrs. King will continue the natural disasters unit (SOL 3.10). Stay tuned to the agenda for more information!

Social Studies:
We're going to continue to review Cesar Chavez and review all Famous Americans and continue to work on our ancient civilizations brochures. Keep reviewing the famous Americans study guide that was sent home a few weeks ago (should be in S.S. notebook); there will be a quiz towards the end of this week.
